Planting trees is one way to support reforestation, but you can also help reduce deforestation through choices that you make in your daily life. Not to worry, it’s simpler than it sounds!
For example, eat less beef if possible. According to a recent blog post by Chad Hunter, Aspiration’s Head of Sustainability, we need to “recognize that cattle ranching is a major driver of deforestation, especially in the Amazon rainforest. Reducing your beef consumption, even just by having a few meatless days a week, may decrease demand for products linked to these practices.” So, a small change can have a big impact! Another option is to take advantage of programs like the one created by Aspiration, where you can plant trees by dedicating the spare change when using their special debit card for your transactions.
