Immigrants with status and without it are currently facing a myriad of challenges. Laura Pastrana will provide insight into some of their fears and hopes and share how Voces de la Frontera are organizing and working to protect families and individuals. Laura will also discuss some of the ways that we can work together as a community to provide assistance.
Laura Pastrana immigrated from Mexico to Minneapolis at the age of 15. This moment marked the first steps of Laura’s path of social justice. In high school, Laura was an advocate for the Dream ACT. Laura has also worked with Asamblea de derechos Civiles, fighting for an immigration reform and driver licenses in Minnesota. Currently, Laura organizes with Voces de la Frontera in Wisconsin 3rd District. All of Laura’s work is grounded in a deep committment to her serving communities.
