Court Appointed Special Advocates or CASA for Kids serves children who have been determined by the courts to be in need of protection or services due to abuse or neglect. Trained volunteers serve as observers for the judges that appoint them, meeting weekly with the child and consulting regularly with the child’s support team. Jessie Fortuna, CASA for Kids program director at YWCA La Crosse, will share her perspectives on resilience in childhood and beyond as she draws on her years of experience in working with youth, families and volunteers through this impactful program.
