Dr. King wrote, “Our goal is to create a beloved community and this will require a qualitative change in our souls as well as a quantitative change in our lives.” He spoke frequently of Beloved Community, a dream rooted in liberation theology, mercy, and radical love, a dream which guides us all toward a future where hate and fear are no more. Rev. Frederic Muir said, “Knowing ourselves as beloved communities is a story the world awaits—and if not the world, then at the very least those who ache and yearn for what we can be.” Let’s explore what it might take to build that dream together.

Rev. Leslie Mills grew up in the Milwaukee region as a third-generation UU. She spent time working in a youth program in a science museum before attending seminary at United Theological Seminary in the Twin Cities and then was a settled minister in Elgin, IL before returning to the Twin Cities to live. She has been active in the PrairieStar District and MidWest Leadership School. She is an artist, a musician, and a practitioner of aikido martial arts and has a long history of activism in various social justice movements.
