Chuck Berendes will share his decades long experience providing immigration law in the La Crosse area as well as his passion for helping others in need.
Chuck was born and raised in La Crosse. He graduated from Aquinas High School. Following high school Chuck attended St. John’s Univeristy in Minnesota. Upon graduation Chuck moved to San Diego, CA and worked as a foreman on a large construction project. It was his time working with men who had just been released from the California prison system that convinced him to pursue law school. Chuck attended St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis. Following his first year at St. Thomas, he was married to his wife, Polly. After graduation Chuck was hired by Catholic Charities in La Crosse and started the immigration program there. He worked for Catholic Charities for nearly a decade and in addition to building the immigration program, he assisted in the creation of the Warming Center in La Crosse and Wausau and Sojourner House in Eau Claire. Since 2018 Chuck has been working at Pittman & Pittman focused almost entirely on immigration law. His caseload centers on family-based immigration (fiancée petitions, Green Cards for spouses, etc.), naturalization cases and some employment-based work, mostly focused on religious worker visas. Chuck has three children, 8 chickens and has had a beard for over 20 years.
