John Grider will discuss the expansion and retraction of citizenship and voting rights throughout United States history. Not only will the discussion address voting rights in terms of gender and the black-white binary, it will also include the expansion of voting rights across class lines and to racial and ethnic groups often excluded from voting rights discussions.
John Grider is a Professor of History, and former department chair at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He specializes in maritime history, labor and working class history, Native American History, and the History of the American West.
