While it is still sometimes said that Unitarian Universalists can ‘believe anything they want’, that claim represents a caricature of our tradition at best and a profound misunderstanding at worst. While our religious tradition does allow for a wide range of beliefs, there is an underlying structure and process that grounds our ‘theological’ values in a coherent way that balances unity and diversity in a dynamic and creative tension. What distinguishes Unitarian Universalism is not so much what we believe as how we believe. In this session of “Stand-up Theology,” we’ll explore the history and current structure of the core principles and values of the Unitarian Universalist Association.
