Dry products such as laundry detergent powder and shampoo bars involve less carbon footprint impact as they tend to weigh a lot less per unit of use than the liquid products and thus require less fuel for transporting them.  Plus, they are likely to involve little or no plastic in their containers, which is a big deal because a lot of the plastic containers that the liquids come in are not very conducive to being recycled.  

Another benefit of incorporating dry products into your routine is that in many cases they are much more cost effective.
