For years the word “love” has been relegated to the periphery of our faith’s principles and purposes. Now that the delegates at this year’s General Assembly have voted decisively to approve a new statement of values and beliefs for Unitarian Universalism, love has officially moved to the center of our living tradition. The question now is, just how ready are we to welcome love into its new home?
Along with many other UU congregations, we will also celebrate our coming together in the Fall this Sunday by pouring a bit of water that has been collected over the summer into a common container. You are invited to bring a small container of water with you to the service. You may also bring a stone or stone. All are welcome to participate!
Rev. Phillip Lund has over twenty-five years’ experience serving congregations in the areas of faith formation and spiritual growth, first as a religious educator in Bloomington, Indiana, New York City, and Chicago, Illinois, and most recently as a congregational life consultant working for the MidAmerica Region of the Unitarian Universalist Association. He currently lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota, with his wife, Julia, their son, Henry David, and their cat, Nicola.
